Universal IT is looking for motivated, detail oriented, and customer centric individuals. The position is to provide communications via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and other methods between our business units and our customer base (including their 3pls, 4pls, and other partners). Individuals in this position will have the opportunity to experience our company’s inner workings “behind the curtain” of day-to-day operations.

As a member of the EDI team, this individual will be responsible for establishing connectivity, ensuring proper translation of EDI documents and maintaining processes related to EDI between our customers, partners and transportation management systems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Engage in project communications both internal and external
  • Establish mapping and configuration per trading partner specification
  • Troubleshoot EDI processes and workflows 
  • Assess the quality of EDI integration
  • Remedy outage situations in an expeditious fashion
  • Navigate the following programs:
    • TMW Suites
    • FileMaker
    • Messageway
    • VL Trader
    • SQL Server
  • Document and maintain training material

Qualifications

  • Understanding of EDI transaction sets
  • Experience with EDI software
  • Exceptional listening and interpretation skills
  • Organized and pays great attention to detail
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex problems
  • Ownership mentality
  • Direct experience in any of the programs mentioned above in Responsibilities
  • Appreciation for protocol and the company’s best interest

Preferred not required:

  • An understanding of the logistics and transportation industry
