We have an exciting opportunity to join our Personal Lines Team as a Senior Motor Underwriter!

While this role is primarily remote, there will be times when you’ll need to visit our Halifax or London office for meetings or events. This will be approximately once a month.

What are the core responsibilities? 

• Support the delivery of the motor strategy by managing and evolving underwriting risk appetite. 
• Identify emerging risks and collaborate on underwriting solutions to address opportunities and threats. 
• Analyse portfolio profitability and take action to ensure performance meets or exceeds the target COR. 
• Oversee and optimise the motor underwriting footprint in line with strategic goals. 
• Evaluate deals and performance areas, making underwriting decisions that align with risk appetite and return requirements. 
• Collaborate effectively with technical teams such as Pricing, Trading, and Claims to support informed decision-making.

• Leadership & Experience: Lead by example, motivate others, and bring senior-level experience in managing underwriters and stakeholder relationships. 
• Technical Expertise & Qualifications: Possess advanced knowledge of UK motor insurance and underwriting, with FCII or ACII qualifications and A-Level education or equivalent.
